Breakfast Banana Smoothie

I'm a huge smoothie fan. Not only are they fulling, but also so nutrient dense. You can literally create any combination that floats your boat with a smoothie. This morning in particular, I decided to make a simple Banana Smoothie.

I have mornings where I'm not starving, and want to opt for something pretty light. I had some bananas that were starting to brown and I didn't want them to go to waste. They make the perfect smoothies when they are turning brown because they are naturally sweeter.

In my home, we LOVE bananas. It's my son's go-to when he wants a snack. Well, because he's starting to eat more of it we tend to run out of bananas before I need to make my next store run. This time around I over bought bananas and wasn't able to get through the old batch quick enough. But that's OK. You can also freeze them when they start to turn brown, and use them for later (don't forget to take the peel off).

Serving Size: 1glass

Breakfast Banana Smoothie

Ingredients:
  • 2 Bananas (Can be fresh or frozen)
  • ½ Cup of Vanilla Almond Milk
  • Handful of ice (If using frozen bananas, no need to add ice)


Directions
  • Take bananas, almond milk, and ice, and add into your blender
  • Begin to pulse into smoothie has reached the consistency of your preference or for 45 seconds
  • If you find that the consistency is too thick, you can add more water or almond milk to loosen the texture. If you would like a thicker consistency you can add in more ice
  • Pour into your favorite glass and enjoy!

What's also great about this if you want to make it into a  nice cream, you can. Just add more frozen bananas or ice until it resembles the texture of ice cream. It's definitely a healthier alternative then the store bought ice creams that tend to have a ton of added sugars.
