Homemade Strawberry Ice Cream

When I was in the second grade, I remember my teacher dividing us into sections to make our own chocolate ice cream. I don't remember what all we used to make it. I'm assuming not much because it was done in a classroom, but what I do remember is that it was disgusting.

From that point on I never had an interest in making my own ice cream. I would see several recipes sharing their special ice cream recipe using just a few ingredients and even then, I still wasn't into making my own ice cream.

Well, look at how the tables have turned.

Homemade Strawberry Ice Cream

As you guys know, I often create my own smoothies. It took some time before realizing that making homemade ice cream isn't all that different from smoothies.

I had a craving for strawberry ice cream and hated the idea of leaving home to get it. So, I used what I had in hand.

What I Used

It's pretty simple. You have your fruit. You have your liquid and sweetener. And bringing everything all together, you have your blender. I opted to use my food processor for this time around, but you can use either of the two and still get great results.

I used about a cup of chopped strawberries, 3 frozen bananas, and about 2/3 cup of milk. I wanted to use as little liquid as possible for this as I wanted to make sure this would have an ice cream consistency.

The frozen bananas gave this some sweetness without having to add extra sugars. But I opted to add in some honey for a little extra sweetness. But honestly, I think it would have been just fine without it.
